Established in 2000 by founding director John Baxter, Unividual started as a small financial advice business with a big purpose: to move away from this “one size fits all” approach to financial advice and towards a bespoke model covering all of someone’s personal and business finances. John created a business that focused on clients as unique individuals. This is where the name Unividual was derived from and the business has spent 20 years perfecting this financial advice model.

Unividual focus on recruiting the right kind of person. When we meet candidates our goal is to find out how aligned they are to our values. Unicademy was created by Directors Cherie-Anne and Lewis Baxter to combat one of the biggest problems in financial services, an ageing financial adviser population and low numbers of highly qualified technical people. Everyone joining the programme starts off working as a financial planning assistant whilst studying for qualifications. After completing your Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning you will have a decision to make on how you envisage your career developing. There are three routes with specific roles and training programmes: financial advice, team leadership or you can become a technical specialist in estate planning or retirement planning. Unicademy also includes mental well-being workshops, private personal development training sessions and a mentor to coach you through everything. The training program is hard work and will require complete commitment in both work but also outside of work as you progress through your exams. For this reasons the course is only offered to staff who have worked for Unividual and have passed their probation.
