Our financial advisers in the Edinburgh office have clients from all over Scotland and the North West and North East of England. Unividual support people and businesses around the country with every area of their finances and our team is happy to travel up and down the country to meet clients. Scottish Financial Adviser, Andy Lei, heads up our Edinburgh financial advice team. Andy is a Chartered Financial Planner and graduated from Unicademy, Unividual’s in-house Chartered Financial Planner school. Andy spent three years training with Unividual to become a financial adviser, but has worked in financial services for over five years now. Andy grew up in Glasgow, where he still has family today, and later moved to Edinburgh where he now calls home.
Edinburgh is a very special city full of some amazingly colourful people and businesses who are at the very core unique individuals. Unividual’s Scottish team really do pride themselves on making the advice process fun, genuine and empowering. Some of Unividual’s clients only want a one off piece of financial advice, others want to improve their financial wellbeing and some people just want a full MOT of their finances. We also have financial advice teams in London and Bristol and often we utilise some of these offices in other parts of the UK with clients who travel around a lot. Our head office is in Bath and houses Unividual’s operational support team, headed up by Marketing Director Cherie-Anne Baxter.
Hui, a chef in her 60s, sought expert financial advice to invest her savings as she approached retirement but struggled to find a Chinese-speaking adviser who understood her unique needs. After discovering Andy Lei, a professional and friendly adviser in Edinburgh, Hui found the guidance she needed. Andy helped her navigate UK investment options, explained tax implications, and introduced her to a diversified managed portfolio. Thanks to Andy’s culturally sensitive approach and ongoing support, Hui now feels confident and secure in her financial future.
After years of managing her savings independently because of past disappointments with financial advisers, Amy found herself at a crossroads. Seeking a trustworthy adviser, she connected with Andy from Unividual, who patiently rebuilt her confidence through in-depth discussions and transparent advice. Andy tailored a strategic financial plan that addressed Amy’s specific goals, such as tax-efficient income and inheritance planning. As a result, Amy gained not only financial growth but also confidence in managing her finances.
Xiantai sought financial advice from Unividual after purchasing a new home, realising that a broader financial plan was necessary. Initially focused on investments, Xiantai worked with Unividual because they wanted a broader more holistic level of advice, including rebuilding an emergency fund, emphasising the importance of budgeting, and securing adequate insurance. Xiantai now has a more secure financial future, comprehensive protection for their family and greater confidence in financial decision-making.

This will be donated to local charities that help under represented young people get in to work or start up their own businesses. If you are interested to find out more get in touch with us today or if you want to educate yourself on money management in the comfort of your own home we also offer everyone free financial planning guides.
If you want to get in touch with one of our financial advisers in Edinburgh or you are a charity or community project and want to find out more about how Unividual can help, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with Andy Lei.
Staff from our Edinburgh, Bristol, Bath and London office came together to sleep rough to raise funds for homeless charity, Julian House. Unividual has worked with Julian House since November 2021 to raise vital funds for the charity. In total, Unividual raised £2,217, the business matched that donation, we donated £3,000 to fund the Big Sleep Out and £2,200 to Julian House at Christmas. This brings the total raised for Julian House to just shy of £10,000. Among those taking part from Unividual was Financial Planning Director Lewis Baxter. He said, “We wanted to do the Big Bath Sleep Out to show our support for homeless people and to help raise money for the charity. This is something I have wanted to support for some time. We know sleeping out for one night in the cold is nothing compared to what homeless people must go through day in, day out.
“We had the solace of knowing we were going home in the morning. It is awful to think of others who don’t have that luxury. I went straight home and curled up in bed. It is a very humbling experience and something I would recommend to people. Coming in to work Monday morning I had a lot more appreciation for everything in my life and a desire to want to do more to help others.”
Established in 2000, Unividual is a family-run, women and LGBTQIA led business offering financial advice for everyone – not just the rich and famous. Founded by John Baxter, our foundations have always been about treating people as unique individuals. In a non-inclusive industry, Unividual have become trailblazers for bespoke financial advice instead of a one-size fits all service. In 2020 the Financial Conduct Authority reported only 7% of UK adults received financial advice. Why? Because people can’t find a finance expert they can relate to. So, Unividual are on a mission to build a business reflective of today’s world that can educate people on their finances. We want every person and business, throughout our local communities, including Edinburgh, to have the opportunity to improve their financial situation, safeguard themselves against their financial fears and overcome financial challenges. Collectively we can and should all improve our financial wellbeing.
Unividual was one of the first businesses in the UK who signed up to the Women in Finance Charter. Did you know, women make up only 14% of Executive Committees in the Financial Services sector. HM Treasury launched the Women in Finance Charter to encourage the financial services industry to improve gender balance in senior management. The Charter now has more than 400 signatories covering 950,000 employees across the sector. The Women in Finance Charter reflects Unividual’s ambitions for gender balance in financial services firms. This means that financial services can better serve the UK population and make financial advice approachable for all. In signing up to the Charter, Cherie-Anne Baxter, Marketing Director said: “We have a strong target of ensuring, as a minimum, 33.3% of our senior management team is made up of women. Currently this sits at 43%. We are delighted and proud to confirm we achieved this target well in advance of our target date. These leaders help mentor and support the women in our business and we have two women who are currently training to be a financial adviser. This is something we have been focusing on since the launch of our in-house financial planning school, Unicademy. It can take 3 years for an employee to train up and we are confident we will have our first female financial adviser by the end of 2024.”
