The job role of a paraplanner

This role has been created because next year two of our paraplanners are working towards becoming Associate Financial Advisers. The suitable person will work alongside the Founding Director in the following areas:

  • Client Objectives: Discuss client objectives after meetings and document them accurately.
  • Financial Analysis: Prepare and analyse data to produce up-to-date reports on clients’ financial situations and objectives.
  • Pre-Meeting Research: Analyse client financial positions, review existing products, conduct retirement projections, and research the market. Using software like Dynamic Planner and CashCalc, which you will get on-the-job training for, you will put together all that is required for the financial adviser to present to the client in the meeting.
  • Report Writing: Draft suitability letters and financial reports for clients as experience grows.
  • Client Communication: Act as the main point of contact for clients when the adviser is unavailable.
  • Compliance Awareness: Stay informed on compliance, economic changes, and legislative updates.
  • General Office Support: Answer phone calls, make outgoing calls, and meet and greet clients.

What we are looking for

Self-Management and Organisation: A conscientious thinker who brings their own ideas to the table. Diligent and detail-oriented with a critical eye. Self-aware and supportive of personal and team wellbeing.

People Skills: Personable, empathetic, and able to build rapport with diverse individuals. Trustworthy and highly ethical. A willingness to learn and view feedback as an opportunity for growth.

Communication: Professional and personable communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to craft well-written letters and emails for clients and stakeholders. Strong grammar, proofreading, and language skills.

IT Proficiency: Comfortable using Word, PowerPoint, email systems, and new software. Knowledge of Excel, including tables, graphs, and formulas, with a willingness to expand expertise.

Qualifications and Experience: A degree or professional financial services qualification (preferred). At least 8 months of experience in the financial services industry is essential.
